About Norfolk Street Bakery
Norfolk Street Bakery is an independent artisan bakery in Cambridge, established in 2012, offering Portuguese specialities such as pastéis de nata alongside sourdough, wholemeal and bloomer loaves, cakes and savouries. It was named Best Bakery in Cambridgeshire at the 2024 National Bakery Awards. This is the original shop on Norfolk Street. Pastéis de nata are the obvious order, but Portuguese bakeries usually reward exploring the bread shelf too. It is particularly known for pastel de nata, sourdough, celebration cakes and savouries.
Doors are open on 6 days each week (it shuts on Sunday). Mornings start at 8am on its earliest day. At its most recent food hygiene inspection on 13 January 2026, Cambridge City gave the business a rating of 5 out of 5 – the top score available.
If you are coming by train or tube, Cambridge station is roughly a 18-minute walk. It is not the only option nearby: there are 8 more bakeries within a kilometre, so a bakery crawl is easily done. It is about 0.8 mi from the centre of Cambridge.
